Grant Revenue
Saunders-Matthey Cancer Prevention Fund
For the past four years, BCAK has been a recipient of the Saunders-Matthey Cancer Prevention Fund for $10,000 to support ongoing outreach and public awareness activities and events, and the expansion of post operative and treatment resources and support.
Specifically, this grant is supporting BCAK’s care pack program that allows BCAK to provide support and outreach to those who are in active treatment–undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Thanks to Saunders-Matthey fund, the care packs program has become a successful outreach program at KGH.
Homestead Foundation
Three years ago, BCAK received a generous $13,250 grant from the Homestead Foundation to start our “Staying Connected” program, which is designed to bring members of the breast cancer community together for an art- based or recreational activity designed to create a supportive network and social connection that could benefit individuals within the breast cancer journey (newly diagnosed, in treatment, post treatment).
Research on breast cancer has shown that diagnosed women with many social connections were less likely to have a recurrence and less likely to die from breast cancer when compared with women who were “socially isolated.” Delete all in green Since its inaugural event in December 2023, the program has grown and created a supportive network of the most amazing and resilient group of previvors, thrivers and survivors that support each other! BCAK is grateful to the Homestead Foundation for their incredible and generous support.
Davies Foundation
BCAK also received two generous grants from the Davies Foundation; the first in 2024 for $7,500 for our Chestmates program and the second in 2025. The Davies Foundation has a special focus on sports and health, and as many of you know, our Chestmates program is foundational to improving health outcomes by providing opportunities to enhance physical fitness levels as a complementary approach to reduce further risk of breast cancer;remove if green The Davies’ grants help create a network of support for those at all stages of the breast cancer journey; and also help improve the quality of life and reduce the emotional stress and mental health impacts of those impacted by breast cancer. We are very grateful for the support of the Davies Foundation for their support in our new program about to be rolled out; “Caring for Mothers, Caring for Families: A Pilot Program for Younger Women and Families Living with Breast Cancer”.
Rotary Club of Kingston
In partnership with the care pack program, BCAK had now received a total of $4,000 over 2 years from the Rotary Club of Kingston that has enabled BCAK to distribute customized care packs for those in active breast cancer treatment. The bags (designed to be reusable) showcase BCAK, and contain special items for those undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation as part of their breast cancer treatment. We are very grateful for the support of the Rotary Club of Kingston.
