Participation Matters
New Support Program Pilot: Participation Matters
Breast Cancer Action Kingston (BCAK) provides programs and services for those impacted by Breast Cancer in Kingston and the surrounding area. The programs are designed to help improve health outcomes; however, they have no impact if individuals impacted by breast cancer cannot access them.
BCAK recognizes that some individuals may have varying degrees of opportunities to access and/or fully participate in programs and services provided by BCAK. Access barriers may have been created due to systemic issues, unique circumstances and other considerations, that may require different levels of support to reduce or remove a barriers or obstacles.
If you are unable to participate in any regular BCAK program or service, which may be addressed through modest financial support (typically under $100) you may apply for assistance. As an example, if you are unable to join the Chestmates’ program due to costs to purchase a paddle or attend an event due to costs for overnight accommodations, you can apply for support from BCAK to support your participation. Another example would be if you wanted to participate in a Staying Connected event and cannot attend because of costs for childcare or travel you can apply for assistance to offset the costs/barriers.
